Housing and Mortgage Markets

Treasury Secretary Timothy Geithner testified on the future of housing finance. In his remarks he indicated that he favored reforming Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac, and that he opposed approaches that would either permanently nationalize the two groups or create new quasi-governmental corporations that would compete with each other.
