Pajamas Media has received a leaked internal assessment produced by Spain’s Zapatero administration. The assessment confirms the key charges previously made by non-governmental Spanish experts in a damning report exposing the catastrophic economic failure of Spain’s “green economy” initiatives.

On eight separate occasions, President Barack Obama has referred to the “green economy” policies enacted by Spain as being the model for what he envisioned for America.

Later came the revelation that Obama administration senior Energy Department official Cathy Zoi — someone with serious publicized conflict of interest issues — demanded an urgent U.S. response to the damaging report from the non-governmental Spanish experts so as to protect the Obama administration’s plans.

Flights have been cancelled across large parts of Britain today because of a "rapidly encroaching" volcanic ash cloud that threatens further disruption for travellers ahead of a planned British Airways strike.

Air traffic controllers imposed a no-fly zone in the north of Britain, including Manchester, Liverpool, Carlisle, Doncaster, Humberside and East Midlands airports, all airports in Northern Ireland and some Scottish airports, until at least 7pm.

This afternoon the zone was extended to Birmingham and Norwich, where airports will close from 7pm.

A 5-year-old girl in Georgia is being asked a series of questions in her school library. The girl, who is white, is looking at pictures of five cartoons of girls, all identical except for skin color ranging from light to dark.

When asked who the smart child is, she points to a light-skinned doll. When asked who the mean child is she points to a dark-skinned doll. She says a white child is good because "I think she looks like me", and says the black child is ugly because "she's a lot darker."

After watching her daughter answer the questions, the mother is brought to tears.

De Europese Commissie heeft het voorstel ingetrokken om de EU meer zeggenschap te geven over het financieel beleid van de lidstaten.

Het plan bleek niet haalbaar omdat de lidstaten tegen zijn. In plaats daarvan wil de commissie nu dat de EU-landen van tevoren inzicht geven in hun begrotingen.
