Texas Man Gets Life Sentence for Ninth DWI – ABC News

The ninth conviction was the breaking point for one Texas judge who earlier this week sentenced a habitual drunken driver to life in prison.

Bobby Stovall, 54, was driving his truck in Round Rock, Texas, in early July when he weaved through several lanes of traffic and hit another vehicle, injuring the driver. It was later determined that Stovall had a blood alcohol concentration of .32, four times the legal limit in Texas.

And while that DWI was certainly enough to get Stovall in trouble with the law, when the judge found out the defendant had eight prior DWI convictions across several different counties in Texas, he ordered up a life sentence for Stovall.

Runaway Subway Blows Through Six Stations with No Driver

Passengers on the London Tube barely escaped with their lives when a defective train with no driver broke away and sped through six stations without stopping. Circle round and hear the harrowing tale of London's ghost train of death.

The runaway train was an engineering vehicle that carried supplies for Tube workers, and its rolling rampage started at 7AM. The ghost train raced four miles and blew through six stops before it came to a halt; several passenger trains narrowly avoided collision by speeding through stops and diverting to other lines to get away from it. It's still unclear what caused it to malfunction. But at least no injuries were reported.

This is just crazy. Apparently Dr. Laura Schlessinger used the N word 11 times during an on air call to a female caller on Tuesday.

Dr. Laura was talking to Jade, an African-American caller, looking for some advise and sympathy for the way she is treated by her Caucasian husband’s family and friends. She said that make racist comments about her in her presence. Jade then asked if the N-word was offensive, and Dr. Laura said “Black guys say it all the time,” and repeated it during their conversation 11 times.

Obviously this has people all over upset and Schlessinger has since issued an apology. The talk show host said:

“I articulated the N-word all the way out–more than one time. And that was wrong. I’ll say it again–that was wrong…I ended up, I’m sure, with many of you losing the point I was trying to make, because you were shocked by the fact that I said the word…I, myself, realized I had made a horrible mistake, and was so upset that I could not finish the show. I pulled myself off the air at the end of the hour. I had to finish the hour, because 20 minutes of dead air doesn’t work. I am very sorry. And it won’t happen again.”

I think this comes too little too late. You can’t do/say something 11 times and call it a mistake. And everyone knows that it is an offensive, hateful word that is not acceptable to use under any circumstance.
